Maybe he'd have been too afraid Mammon would have blown up if he searched for him, because he was stupid. He was nothing like Lucifer. He may be able to keep his anger in check better than some of his brothers, but he couldn't stay composed. He was always emotional. Even when he didn't want to be he was. Lucifer would have been able to handle the questions maturely. He would have been able to put Satan's mind at ease...
And this wasn't any different. He could have opened his dumb mouth and said "Hey Satan. I don't know what I'm feeling right now. Can we talk about this later?" Like a mature and responsible adult. he could have said anything different and things would be okay, but Mammon made things worse. It was like his whole existence was just causing horrible luck to everyone around him. And he was the catalyst of it. it was all just so... frustrating.
