[ Satan makes a soft sound, acknowledging what he said. Once they reach the top of the ramp, he moves past Mammon to head into the tree house first. He makes a beeline to where the book is wedged into the wall and delicately pulls it out. Although, looking at the hole it leaves behind... this will be a bit trickier to fix. It might be too delicate work for magic.... ]
The floorboard cracking was a clean enough break that I could repair it. There's a lot of jagged edges here in the wall that would make it hard to get the same clean result.
[ He falls silent for a moment, then looks at the book he pulled out of the wall. ]
I'm going to put this away. I'll be back in a minute.
[ It's not like he needs to put it away right this second, but he just needs a minute to be alone so he can get whatever he's feeling under control so it doesn't turn into anger again. So, without a word, he slips into his room to return the book to its proper place. ]
[That might not be such a bad idea for the both of them. Mammon already felt awful, knowing he really messed up this time especially when Satan was already feeling vulnerable. Would he even come to Mammon anymore after him acting like this?
Ugh... he's so stupid.
Mammon limps his way to one of the drawers, to see if he could find something they could use to keep the wood in place, taking a deep breath as he searches. ]
[ Satan takes his time, in no rush to get back and deal with the awkwardness between him and Mammon. What a feat he's accomplished to make Mammon lose his temper, though. The rest of their brothers would have been floored, to be sure. But... no matter how upset Mammon had gotten... he had maintained his form.
He sits silently on his bed, wondering what would have worked better. Not telling him at all would have been best, because not only does Mammon now feel helpless to do anything for their human, but Mammon also seems to feel like Satan can just magic up a simple solution and stop Zelda from sacrificing herself for her kingdom. Satan supposes that will just create a bitterness.
Maybe if he'd been more confident from the start. If he'd maintained his temper, Mammon wouldn't have gotten the feeling that their shared situation was hopeless. If he'd been more... like Lucifer... he would have been able to find a solution and present it to Mammon. And then Mammon would just believe everything would work out.
All he had to do was keep his temper, and to not vent about how helpless he felt. Because in the end, all it did was upset Mammon and make him feel helpless, too.
Satan takes a deep breath and pushes his emotions somewhere deep down. He can't afford to think about them or feel them when they're a confusing mess as they are now. Besides, he can't hide in here forever.
So, having pulled himself together as best he can, he ventures how to see what Mammon is up to. ]
[ Even if Mammon himself wanted to hide out somewhere, he wouldn't have gotten very far. Maybe Satan wouldn't have even bothered looking for him. Maybe he'd have been too afraid Mammon would have blown up if he searched for him, because he was stupid. He was nothing like Lucifer. He may be able to keep his anger in check better than some of his brothers, but he couldn't stay composed. He was always emotional. Even when he didn't want to be he was. Lucifer would have been able to handle the questions maturely. He would have been able to put Satan's mind at ease...
And this wasn't any different. He could have opened his dumb mouth and said "Hey Satan. I don't know what I'm feeling right now. Can we talk about this later?" Like a mature and responsible adult. he could have said anything different and things would be okay, but Mammon made things worse. It was like his whole existence was just causing horrible luck to everyone around him. And he was the catalyst of it. it was all just so... frustrating.
How could he fix this? Can he even fix this? Once you say one stupid thing it's impossible to take it back... ]

[ he murmured quietly to himself. By the time Satan came back to check on Mammon, he was already on the floor mixing up some things he found to make a simple plaster for the wall. ]
